Hi Stampers!
Happy Halloween!!
Today I will share some instructions for making the cube card! This will give you the pieces to make four cube cards! They are so much fun you won’t want to stop at one!!
Supplies:
- Scoring board
- Four sheets of 8 1/2 x 11 Cardstock and one extra piece that is 8 1/2 x 2 (this piece is not in the picture)
- 24 squares of DSP cut to 1 3/4 inch square
- 28 squares of coordinating CS cut to 1 3/4 inch square
- 28 squares stamped with whatever designs you choose, 7 squares per card - cut to 1 1/2 inch square
- Double sided tape
- Glue (I prefer tombow)
Step 1:
Score 8 1/2 inch side at 2, 4, 6 and 8 inches
Attach narrow sticky tape (1/4 inch) across the 1/2 inch scored section of each piece of Cardstock
Step 2:
Cut Cardstock! From 2 sheets you will have four 8 1/2 x 4 inch pieces and two 8 1/2 x 2 pieces. You will have two 8 1/2 x 1 scraps. Save those!
From the third sheet you will have five 8 1/2 x 2 pieces and one 8 1/2 x 1 piece.
Step 3:
On each 8 1/2 x 4 piece, attach two DSP squares on the side that doesn’t have the tape on it.
Step 4:
You are going to stick two 8 1/2 x 2 strips together using double sided tape.
Lay the two strips next to each other put two strips of double sided tape (1/2 inch) across the cardstock as shown.
Flip the two strips over and put your DSP squares on the backside of the section with the two strips of Double sided tape. When attacking DSP use four dots of glue on the corners. You will need to be able to slip a tab under the DSP so you don’t want it glued down more than the corners.
Step 5:
Now you are going to insert a tab to hold the square that pops out in the center of the boxes.
First cut the 8 1/2 x 1/2 inch strips into little tabs with a fold in the center - they will be about 1 inch long (see photo below)
I show the tab in purple on the first two pictures so you can see how it works. Put a dot of glue on backside of tab and slip it under your DSP square. Then do the same thing on the opposite side making sure the folds of the two tabs meet in the middle
Flatten the two tabs down and put sticky tape across them.
Now you can peel off the tape and attach your 1 3/4 inch square to the tape.
Step 6:
Now add your stamped square (1 1/2 inch) to the center of your flippy tab.
Step 7:
It’s time to fold your boxes! First we will do the 8 1/2 x 4 inch piece that has just one strip of tape and 2 pieces of DSP on it.
Lay box down as shown in the picture below and fold it up! Can you see that I have removed the backing from my sticky tape? Just lay the box flat and fold top over and it will adhere to sticky tape and make perfectly squared off box!
Next you will fold over your two taped together 8 1/2 x 2 strips. Lay piece flat, fold up and peel sticky tape baking off. Then fold upper pieces down and adhere to tape as shown in photo below!
Step 9:
Crease all of the sides of your cubes and then stand them up as shown in photo below
Step 10:
Now this is the step where you have to be careful, so that everything ends up in the correct place.
Lay your 4 inch box with 2 squares of DSP on the inside down as shown in the photo below.
You are going to peel off the double sided tape on your two cubes that are taped together, and attach it to the bottom of the 4 inch box. You just want to make sure you don’t put it on upside down!
I completely flattened both boxes to do this, and then just attached them together at the bottom. Here are a couple of photos to hopefully help you figure that
Step 11 - Now you are free to decorate the rest of your box with you coordinating CS squares and stamped squares!
I used the Stampin’Up! Ghoulish Goodies Stamps and Magic of the Night DSP for my card!
I hope you enjoyed this Cardmaking Pictorial! If you have any questions just drop me a note!!
