Because I Care

Hi Stampers,

I am so excited - I finally made a new card!    I have a small pile of new supplies from the  new catalog and I have been thinking about what I wanted to do with some of the new stamp sets and finally tonight I got a chance to stamp.   So far I have only received two of the new sets I ordered, and the one I used tonight is called Because I Care, and it is a beautiful new Hostess Set in Level 1.   Hydrangeas are my favorite flower, so I was very excited to get this.   I also ordered the new pack of DSP called Greenhouse Gala so that was what I decided to use for my card.   When I opened the pack of DSP I saw this piece that is blue with a flower on it - and because it reminded me of the color of a hydrangea - I wondered how it would look to stamp the flower onto the DSP and thus add the color to my flower.  I was actually amazed at how great it worked.   I don't always have the patience to color something that has as much detail as this flower and I really feel the color contrasts in the piece of DSP provide the highlights in the flower that you are looking for.  When the flower turned out so well, I decided it would be best to just stamp the leaves on a piece of green DSP also.   Now I need to find a pretty piece of purple DSP so I can make purple hydrangeas also!    I hope you like the card!

Stampin Tips:

• Stamp the flower with black ink - right onto the piece of DSP and then cut out very close to the stamped edges.  Below you can see a picture of the piece of DSP I stamped it on - can you believe that created such a beautiful hydrangea?   The paper I used for the leaves is the same piece that you see on the background of the card!

Guest blogger - Susan Gardner with some sneak peaks from the new Catalog!

Good morning Connie Tumm followers!  I am so excited that Connie has chosen me to show you a few of my latest creations!  I know what you're thinking--"wow--if Connie chose her--she must be a really good stamper?"  Yeah well, that was not the case--I sent her so many pictures of cards I made this past week-- that she felt GUILTY--and finally gave me some "airtime"  That's alright, I'm very secure in my art--and hope you will want to copy AT LEAST one card you see on Connie's blog today!

 

When I saw the sneak peek of some new colors and stamp sets that will appear in the 2010-2011 Idea book--I knew the Artistic Etchings--was going to be one of my favorites.  Part of the reason is cause it's a great set--and the other part is, my 17 year old daughter is going to France this summer--so I knew I could make some great scrapbook pages with this set!

 

I have to tell you--you NEED to purchase a pack of the newsprint Designer series paper--It practically does the work for you--It's vanilla and black--and oh so fabulous!  The one suggestion I will make is to get yourself a StazOn Black pad to use in conjunction with this paper--Stampin' Ups! Basic Black classis ink is just not quite "black" enough--I love the depth of color the StazOn provides!  And if you don't already have it--make sure to get a bottle of StazOn cleaner- while you're at it-It is the wonder cleaner for those stamps which you use the black StazOn with.

 

Did you also notice on the cute little daffodil delight and black square card I made that it has a saying about being a queen?  That is from the summer mini catalog and will only be available through August 31st, 2010.  It goes so perfectly with the crown from the Artistic Etchings set--I really like all 4 sayings in the FAVORITE THOUGHTS stamp set cause they are all about woman and how wonderful we are!!!

My Favorite birthday Card

Hi Stampers!  
I know it has been an incredibly long time since I have blogged - but I have been thinking about it a lot - and wishing I had the time to do it!    We closed on our old house on Wed. and are pretty well settled in to the new house, but I still have a bit of unpacking to do before I can get my stamp stuff in order.  Hopefully by the end of this week I will be back in business!  

I hope you have all checked out the last chance lists for stamp sets and accessories!   I finally had a moment to go thru my 2009-2010 catalog and mark off all of the stamp sets that are going away and I wanted to post a card that I absolutely love, but one of the sets used to make it will soon be discontinued!    I made this card for my daughter Sarah last year for her birthday and she absolutely loved it.  I think this is the perfect birthday card for everyone you know - it makes them feel so special.   Sarah is not usually that excited about the cards I make, but on her birthday last year she had some friends over and I heard  her say to them "Did you see the card my Mom made me?"    That was a huge stamp of approval - when your teenager likes something enough to show her friends!

You will also notice on the left side of the blog I have  the links for the new color charts which are absolutely fabulous!  I am so excited about the changes they made.  I just spent the past hour pouring over the new catalog with my best friend Susan and the one thing we both kept commenting on is how absolutely gorgeous the samples and colors are in the new book.  I can hardly wait to start playing with them and I can hardly wait to have my boxes of catalogs in my hands so I can share them with you!
